Who's Got the Power
For a long time architects seemed to be the driving force behind spatial change. But is that still the case? Or does 'who pays, decides' apply? We look at the role of users, designers, governments and developers. Where does the power lie? Who takes responsibility? Is a counterforce emerging anywhere?
On Friday 14 and Saturday 15 March, TIAFF presented a programme full of inspiring visual stories and lectures at art-house cinema Cinecitta. We showed how people, with inventiveness and perseverance, develop new forms of living together. We explored how governments can create the conditions to find and make space together. And we looked at how businesses can arrive at new economic models and forms of financing to make sustainable development possible. Where do interests converge, and where do they grate? And what can the role of architects, designers and users be?
TIAFF's tenth anniversary revolved around power: power over and power to. With a varied programme of films and speakers we answered the question: Who's got the power?
