Gagarine

Youri, 16 years old, grew up in Gagarine, the massive red-brick housing complex in Ivry-sur-Seine. He dreams of becoming an astronaut. When he learns that Gagarine is threatened with demolition, Youri decides to join the resistance. With the help of Diana, Houssam, and other residents, he makes it his mission to save the city, which has become his "spaceship."
Gagarine is an intriguing drama with a touch of magical realism. Based on and filmed in collaboration with the residents of the now-demolished Cité Gagarine in Paris, the film tells the story of a community losing their home but staying united in solidarity. Directors Fanny Liatard and Jérémy Trouilh create a cinematic monument to Gagarine, its residents, and their ideals. The demolition is now a reality.
