In Petrila, a village in Romania, daily life has been dominated by mining for generations. Then comes the day the coal mine closes. The municipality wants to demolish the site, but for the inhabitants this site is their cultural heritage. Former miner and artist Ion Barbu takes up cultural activities to prevent demolition. A frivolous protest that becomes a symbol of collective mourning for a disappearing industry.
